E3 2013 thread (MEGAMAN IN SMASH)
#11
Needing PS+ for online play is pretty close to a dealbreaker. Roping a bunch of shit into the service is exactly how Microsoft got away with molesting peoples' wallets for Live. Paid online and DRM up the ass. This industry really fucking hates its consumers. They're either going to nickel and dime everyone until there's nothing left or we're in for a second crash. The only console that's not playing into this bullshit is being actively ignored by the same developers running interference for Microsoft's DRM policies. Fucking cunts.

If this is the future of gaming, I might have to leave consoles behind.

For me, if you take Square's part out the whole Sony event was boring and uneventful. They didn't show off anything they would get me to buy a PS4.

EA confirmed that ME2 is a reboot.
IGN Wrote:EA says this Mirror's Edge "reboots" the franchise with an all-new origin story for Faith, along with next-generation visuals on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
Sad but true Sad At least the series isn't dead.

At least MS is making it so you only need one Xbox Live account per-system and not one for each user. :p

Seriously thou, it's all pissing me off as well, This is why I'm slowly moving twords PC gaming, but even there they are DRMing us like crazy.

So what games did you think sold the Xbone better than the PS4? I'm not saying Sony's conference was a slam dunk (only really hyped for FF and KH, and Destiny looked good but it's multi), but I don't really see how MS's con was better.

Ryse? Insomniac's game? Killer Instinct?

EDIT: Apparently Killer Instinct is free to play. You get one character (Jago) and you have to buy everyone else...

Seriously, what the fuck?

WTF??? Maybe they are going to have a full retail version and this is going to me a Digital Download thing like what Tekken and DoA are doing..... Still WTF??

ClaudeLv250 Wrote:So what games did you think sold the Xbone better than the PS4?

- Dead Rising 3 (This one alone sold my wife on a Xbox One)
- Titanfall
- Quantum Break
- Project Spark (This looks like alot of fun to me)
- Sunset Overdrive (I know it was just a teaser but it got us hyped and its also done by Insomniac)
- Halo (Again teaser but it got us hyped up for it and I'm a Halo fan)

Even thou its not an exclusive the demo for Metal Gear Solid V for the first time ever sold me on a Metal Gear game.

While I wasn't as impressed, my wife was excited for Ryse.

Not at the XBox Event but Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare, completely out of left field, I wasn't expecting to be as hyped as I am for this one, its a big change but it looks like alot of fun.

And OMG Minecraft: Xbox One Edition!!!!! No just kidding, I know Sony is going crazy to try and get this on the PS4 but seriously if your going to play Minecraft play it on a damn PC and not a cheap limited port on a console.

on a side note, even before the free to play news, I couldn't care less about Killer Instinct. I was really hoping for the return of Conker or Perfect Dark Zero 2.

In the Sony event the only thing I got a little bit excited for was Batman: Arkham Origins and Destiny both of which are multi-platform. I was really disappointed we didn't get a teaser at what Naughty Dog is doing and just got a teaser for a game that's already been released. Oh and speaking of Arkham Origins holly shit batman, the Exclusive skins for the PS4 are crap!
I didn't get excited when they showed Final Fantasy Versus XIII which has been teased for the last 7 years, I was pretty much "oh this again... do we have a date yet Square?". I don't know why really but I stopped caring about the Final Fantasy series after XII.. And Kingdom Hearts... Oh Kingdom Hearts, I was a fan of the first, the second not so much, but after the endless side games and waiting almost 7 years for part 3 I find myself not really being that excited for it, it was a small demo and I don't have much faith in seeing it any time soon, specially when it has taken the guy making it OVER 7 YEARS to make Final Fantasy Versus XIII.

As it stands, neather system has wowed me over to the point where I'm going to run out and drop my hard earned cash on them. BUT if I had to pick one as it stands I would be going with the Xbox One. The way I see it I still have a Xbox 360 and a PS3 with a backlog of games (and a few new games still on the way) that I can't play on the newer systems, so why should I run out and upgrade? Neather company has given me a good reason to get their system on day one if anything they both gave me reason to wait till 2014.

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS will launch in 2014.
Mega Man is Confirmed as a new character!

IGN Wrote:Today during its pre-E3 2013 Nintendo Direct, Nintendo revealed that gaming icon Mega Man would be joining the Super Smash Bros. franchise, which is due to debut on Wii U and 3DS in 2014. Debuting during a lengthy CG and gameplay trailer, Mega Man appeared in his classic "Blue Bomber" iteration, complete with Mega Buster, numerous Robot Master abilities and his trusty dog, Rush.

Mega Man wasn't the only new character revealed during the Direct. An opening trailer highlighted "The Villager" from Animal Crossing, who not only can dig pits to trap his enemies, but chop down trees to damage them. Both Mega Man and The Villager will be accompanied by stages from their respective franchises.

Nintendo also confirmed, by debuting gameplay footage, the return of several classic characters, including Mario, Samus Aran, Fox McCloud, Donkey Kong, Pikachu, Pit, Bowser and Princess Peach. Stages revealed included the classic Battlefield location, a level set on the train from The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks, Mega Man's Dr. Wily Stage, an Animal Crossing location, Skyloft from Skyward Sword, a stage that appeared to be set in Kakariko Village from Twilight Princess, a Nintendogs level, and more.

Based on the Nintendo Direct, it currently doesn't appear that Masahiro Sakurai is making significant changes to the Smash Bros. formula. Gameplay appears to retain its core 2D mechanics, with the 3DS visuals more or less being on par with GameCube's Melee (along with slight cel-shading) and the Wii U version being considerably better. No official titles were given to either project.

MEGA FUCKING MAN in Smash, new X trailer, 4 player co-op 3D Mario...I am pleased by the direct even though the stream was absolute ass.

Dojo is back and already has a lot of screens on it. Was so hyped on Mega Man that I didn't even register the new levels and possibly attacks as well.

Also, looks like they are keeping the tradition of Fox getting his ass handed to him in screenshots.

Anyone else seeing alot of hatred at Insomniac now that they are making an exclusive for Microsoft. Kind of reminds me of the days when Rare left Nintendo. :p

IGN Wrote:Sony has confirmed that the digital rights management of PlayStation 4 software will be up to third-party publishers. Speaking on GTTV, Sony's Jack Tretton stated, "The DRM decision for third-party games will be up to publishers."

Isn't that the same thing Microsoft said... :p
